On August 29th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, killing at least 1,300, destroying over 600,000 houses, and turning downtown New Orleans into an uninhabitable swamp.

In a compelling hour-by-hour reconstruction of the ferocious storm, NOVA exposes crucial failures in preparation and engineering that led to the worst disaster in U.S. history. The film probes the titanic forces behind hurricanes and the latest technology for tracking and predicting them, showing how scientists precisely foresaw the impact of a strong hurricane on New Orleans a year before Katrina struck. NOVA investigates the fatal flaws in New Orleans’ levees and the huge challenge posed by protecting and rebuilding the city. As global temperatures rise, are killer storms like Katrina a growing threat?

Hurricane Katrina: The Storm that Drowned a City presents astonishing storm footage, suspenseful eyewitness testimony, and a penetrating analysis of what went wrong. Viewers relive the storm through the eyes of survivors and the stories of top engineers, hurricane experts, and emergency officials as they grappled with the arrival of the storm and its traumatic aftermath.

Natural disaster leaves a big mess around the community. It is a big loss on the part of the people because their personal properties and even business establishments were destroyed. They feel stressed having seen the result. They have been waiting for years for the things they need—like new homes! Brad Pitt is trying to help. Pitt is the spokesperson and lead of the Make It Right Project, which rebuilds homes in New Orleans. One of the hardest hit neighborhoods hit in New Orleans is the Lower 9th Ward. Pitt was compelled to help after witnessing the devastation and ruin there. Make It Right is going to build 150 homes in the Lower 9th Ward. Payday Loans are available to me at my convenience. I won’t have to worry about waiting one day, let alone years to get the help I need. Click to read more on Payday Loans.

I think this is really devastating! Even though I wasn’t down there to see this horrible tragedy occur, I could really feel their pain. If I was old enough to have a job, I would love to send money for this cause.

The survivors have to be so bad to have lost everything and there are many here that feel bad for them and want to help. Our community and churches are doing everything they can to get money and send it to the victims…..

Im sorry to all the survivors that lost your home, family, and community. I can’t imagine what you went through and if I was old enough to make a diffrence or change in your lifes I would. Im sorry that this happened to you.

The destruction of New Orleans and other cities was completely devastating. The hurricane was a true disaster, and from the sound of it, it changed every single person in the communitys life. I only wish that everyone could have been a survivor. Best of luck, and God bless you.

I remember when I first saw the destruction that was caused by Katrina I was in shock. The overweilming devestation changed my mentality because I realized that the hurricane came and destroyed everything and there wasn’t anything anyone could do to stop it from happening. When I turned on the the news and watched the survivors that were standing on their roofs waving for help looking for a escape from thier destroyed homes what had happened really sunk in, communities were demolished and houses were washed away. Natural disasters like hurricane Katrina make me really be thankful for what I have and not take for granted the things that I do have because you never know whats around the corner.

This tragedy is a devastion to everyone in the United States. It has forever changed the lives of thousands of people. The destruction of the city was a huge disaster. No one should have to go through what these people who have lost loved ones and their belongings have. The way the community joined together to help one another was beyond touching. Every survivor that has been through this deserves only the best in life. My church helped shelter katrina victims and the way they appreciated life was heart warming. The things that have happened to them can never be changed and their lives will never be the same. I never thought anything like this would happen, it’s terrible that it did.

This is probably the scarriest thing ive ever seen. To hear the stories of the survivors from this horrible tragedy is just so…devestating. After i have seen the movies and everything that has went on I realize that this is something that will change not only me but America in general (we will never be the same). The Destruction that hurricane Katrina left behind is something i will never forget. This natural disaster has scared the community badly and may never be back exactly the way things were before. I would do anything to help them. This is one thing that really touches me. My heart goes out to everyone who was a victim of this disaster.People in my community are doing everything they can to lend a hand and i will do everything i can as well. :)
